The work we do

  • Community advice sessions once a week with our solicitor answering questions on welfare benefits, debt, community care, immigration and other legal issues;
  • In-depth casework on debt and welfare benefits including challenging decisions and assisting with appeals as well as Upper Tribunal and County Court work;
  • Money Advice Service (MAS) funded Debt Advice Project, providing high quality debt advice from our office as well as outreach at the TUC Centre for the Unemployed on Stratford Road and the Sparkbrook Children’s Centre;
  • Immigration advice clinics every Wednesday from 2pm till 4pm run in conjunction with students from the University of Birmingham;
  • Family Action generalist advice drop-in session every Tuesday 2pm till 5pm;
  • Benefits and community care advice for the homeless and particularly EU nationals at our outreach session with Sifa-Fireside in Digbeth;
  • Legal advice on services for destitute migrants with no recourse to public funds through our Migrant Families Support Project;
  • Welfare Benefits Upper Tribunal contract funded by the Legal Aid Agency;
  • Community Care contract funded by the Legal Aid Agency;
  • Public law challenges including Judicial Review;
  • Monthly advice sessions at the Hub in Hodge Hill on the first Tuesday of every month;
  • Volunteer run telephone and form filling clinic every Thursday.
